We’re Smothered in Covers

beerbottle.jpgI like covers. I collect them. I like the ones that are completely different from the original song. The ones that make my head itch. I take those and diligently sort and organize them. I listen to them in my car really loud and I sing along. I get back into the original version and enjoy that feeling of the the snake eating its tail for years. I put them on mix cds. I make mix cds that are only covers and then I give them to friends. Most of the time those friends are less than interested. You, friends… you’re of the different variety. You are friends that aren’t based primarily on geosocioeconomics. You are friends that are based on technology and a passion for music — perhaps even a passion for covers. Joy! Hopefully there is something down below that will make your toes tickle and your ears demand the burn than only 10 solid reps can provide.

Not to be pissy, but I’m 99% certain that the Weezer cover of “Rivers” is just Sugar Ray doing an homage to Rivers Cuomo. It was on the Scream 2 soundtrack, I believe.
